Wildflowers of Mackinac Island

One of the most special experiences I had while on Mackinac Island was meeting two beautiful, exceptional women who I’ve ‘adopted’ as my daughters – Jill and Gabi (from the left – Jill, Kerry, Gabi). They are part of Jack Barnwell’s gifted landscape crew, helping to create magical landscapes on the island.
Jill and Gabi have recently started a business venture, Mackinac Island Compost Wildflower Blend, a sister brand to Barnwell Landscape & Garden (both of Jack Barnwell Design). These companies are based on Mackinac Island in Northern Michigan which is a very unique, captivating community in the way that the daily activities of life are performed.
Because Mackinac Island does not allow any motor vehicles, horses are used through town to pull people and carriages and deliver packages. And naturally, this wonderful horse culture creates Mackinac Island Compost! This 100% authentic Mackinac Island Compost is used in many of the gardens that Barnwell Landscape & Garden creates, molds, and builds to add extra nutrients and substance into the gardens that they cultivate.

And this is where the idea for Flowers of Mackinac was born. Jack Barnwell, Gabi Bowditch and Jill Hendrickson came together with the goal and passion to give people the opportunity to Take the Beauty of Mackinac’s Gardens Home with them! The Mackinac Island Compost Wildflower Blend is the perfect gift to give to gardening friends and family. The seed is primarily perennial and will grow wonderfully anywhere in the Midwest or northern East Coast, Zones 3-7.
