As a result of taking a full-time, year-round position at Estabrook’s Nursery (a premier garden center in Yarmouth and Kennebunk, ME), I’ve had to dramatically reduce my regional classes and lecture commitments, although I truly love interacting with fellow gardeners at these events. Thursday, Feb. 20 – Three Hour Special Garden Class at Faddegon’s Nursery. Latham, NY. 1:30-4:30 p.m. Two lectures. Designing Small Gardens with Big Attitudes! and Budget-Wise & Time-Saving Tips for Sensational Gardens! Saturday, Mar 14: Special 2 1/2 hour class at The Boston Flower and Garden Show 10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Insider Tips for Growing Extraordinary Gardens. Two back-to-back presentations. Lecture #1 Inspirational Design Ideas Gleaned from Outstanding Landscapers. This idea-inspiring presentation features breathtaking landscapes crafted by some of the most noteworthy garden designers in the Northeast. Numerous problem-solving challenges are addressed. You’ll discover brilliant and practical tips for a variety of gardening sites ranging from small urban lots to large estates, intense sun to full shade, and seemingly impossible situations. Prepare to be delighted and motivated by this fascinating ‘virtual garden tour’. Lecture #2 Hydrangeas Demystified – Great Hydrangeas and Proven Tips for Exceptional Blooms. Unravel the mystery for having honkin’ Hydrangeas that will be the envy of the neighborhood. This vast genus of shrubs is divided into five groups. Knowing the differences and how to maximize the show from each will be discussed as well as top-performing cultivars. The talk includes how to care and prune these beauties.
