A number of folks have asked my advice for the best way to travel to the Grand Garden Show (August 26 – 28) on Mackinac Island in northern Michigan. This ‘unlike-any-other-show’ is extraordinary. True, is it not easy to get to, but it is worth the effort.
I have always flown into the Sault Ste Marie, Michigan airport – a small airport that Delta flies into. Then I take a cab to Shepler’s Ferry to cross over to the island. The cab fare runs around $65+ dollars as I remember). Once on the island there are horse drawn ‘taxis’ to take you to the hotel or B&B where you are staying. Or you could fly into Grand Rapids or Detroit, then rent a car and drive 3.5 hours to the ferry. Leave your car at the ferry parking lot. I hope this helps. Hopefully you can join us for this amazing program!
