Some Exciting New Plants Coming down the Plant Pike

CAST (California Spring Trials) is an annual horticultural trade event hosted in northern and central California, showcasing spectacular new plants being introduced to the market. The acronym, CAST, was originally created when the trial only focused on annuals but now perennials, edibles and flowering shrubs are also part of the glamour show. My friend, Karen Chapman, wrote a great article for the National Gardening Bureau about some striking plants that caught her eye, including Chameleon Calibrachoa, a million bells that changes color based on changing temperatures and light intensity. Million bells are delightfully low maintenance, requiring no deadheading. To learn more about some of Karen’s favorites, click here. Please note that CAST is not open to the public.
