Sambucus Lemon Lace

Sambucus Lemon LaceSambucus ‘Lemony Lace’   This magnificent, compact shrub glistens in the landscape. The fine, lacy, golden foliage is a showstopper spring through fall. Who needs flowers with all of that drama? Ahhhh, but ‘Lemony Lace’ also flowers! Flat-shaped, white flowers appear in spring, producing bold red berries in fall. ‘Lemon Lace’ tolerates full sun in colder regions but prefers part sun to part shade in most others. I grew ‘Sutherland Gold’, a much larger version of ‘Lemony Lace’ in upstate New York and it thrived in part shade. ‘Lemon Lace’ grows 3’ – 5’ tall and is hardy in Zones 3 – 7. The fact that deer dislike it is icing on the cake!
