Hydrangea paniculata ‘Vanilla Strawberry’

Sun to Part Sun.  6’ – 7’ tall.  Summer to fall bloomer.  This delicious new Hydrangea will have you coming back for ‘seconds’.   New flowers open white, then change to pink, before turning a ravishing strawberry-rose, giving the plant a tri-color appearance.   ‘Vanilla Strawberry’ hit the market in 2010 and was soon rated a top plant by the American Nursery & Landscape Association.  Triangular-shaped blooms, up to 10” in length, adorn this red-stemmed shrub for up to 10 weeks.   ‘Vanilla Strawberry’ makes a terrific stand-along specimen, but works equally as well in mixed borders or as a flowering hedge.   If pruning is needed, do so in late winter.  Any Hydrangea in the paniculata group are reliable bloomers in colder climates, unlike many in the mophead (macrophylla) gang.    Zones 4 – 8
