Outstanding Perennials and Hydrangeas
I will once again be returning to Faddegon’s Nursery in Latham, NY (near Albany) to teach an in-depth gardening program. Faddegon’s has a special place in my heart – I used to work there and the folks are like family to me. In addition to an amazing nursery, Faddegon’s also has extensive offerings of indoor plants and tropicals as well as an AMAZING gift shop.
The gardening class is on Friday, February 15 from 9:00 – Noon. I’ll be giving two lectures:
Success with Hydrangeas in Colder Climates. Unravel the mystery for having honkin’ Hydrangeas that will be the envy of the neighborhood. This vast genus of shrubs is divided into five commonly sold species. Knowing the differences and how to maximize the show from each (including pruning tips) will be discussed, as well as top-performing cultivars. Special attention will be given to tips and tricks for growing gorgeous blue and pink mophead Hydrangeas.
Kerry’s 2019 Picks for BEST Perennials, Flowering Shrubs and Annuals. The aging process, along with dramatic climate changes and the vital importance for pollinator plants, have refined my list of must-have perennials, flowering shrubs and annuals. The remarkable plants featured in this presentation require less input (maintenance as well as water, fertilizer and organic pesticides) plus they provide beauty and year-round food sources for birds, bees and butterflies. Enhanced property value is a bonus.
The program includes extensive handouts, plant catalogs, a refreshment break, $10 coupon off a $50 purchase at Faddegon’s, and door prizes. Registration fee: $49 per person; $44 for Master Gardeners and green industry professionals (Master Gardeners and green industry professionals must pay by check).
