June and July 2013 Garden Tours

There are some great garden tours scheduled in June and July, all of which raise money for terrific not-for-profit organizations. Don’t delay in purchasing tickets for these or you may get closed out.

Bethlehem Garden Club’s Annual Garden Tour and Plant Sale. Wednesday, June 12 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Rain or shine. All types of gardens will be highlighted in the Town of Bethlehem: small-medium-large, formal and informal. Tickets are $15 the day of the tour and will be for sale at their Plant Sale at the Delmar Presbyterian Church and the Slingerlands Price Chopper PARKING LOT from 4 – 6:30 p.m.  The plant sale is from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. For information visit

Soroptimist International of Schenectady’s 10th Annual Garden Tour. Saturday, June 15 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. A closing reception will be held at Faddegon’s Nursery (www.faddegons.com) in Latham from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. Tour is rain or shine. Eight beautiful and diverse gardens are being featured in Schenectady County. Tickets are $15 in advance (buy five and get one free!); $18 the day of the tour. Garden tour tickets may be purchased at many local merchants (including Faddegon’s Nursery) as well as by mail by going to the Soroptimist’s web site at soroptimistofschenectady.org. More information about the tour is also on this site.   In addition, my gardening books will be for sale at the tour with a portion of every book sold being donated to Soroptimist. For tour questions call Frieda 518-885-9710, cell 518-339-3119. Proceeds are used to fulfill our mission of making a better life for women and girls with awards and scholarships in our community.      

Rensselaer County Master Gardeners 2013 Garden Tour. Thursday, June 20 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.  A self-driven, self-guided tour of home gardens in Schodack, NY. Admission $10 per person (up to $30 per car for 3 or more people). Maps sold that night at Schodack Town Hall, 265 Schuurman Road, Castleton On Hudson. For more information or questions call Cornell Cooperative Extension at (518) 272-4210 or email dhc3@cornell.edu.

Soroptimist International of Saratoga’s 19th Annual Secret Garden Tour
. Sunday, July 7 from 11:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Rain or shine. Tickets may be purchased at the Saratoga Springs Visitor Center, 297 Broadway (across from Congress Park) 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday June 22, 29 and July 6. Tickets are also available on-line at http://soroptimistsaratoga.org/node/37.   Please be aware that this tour may sell out and tickets may not be available the day of the tour. Tour features creative urban spaces, lush suburban gardens, fabulous water features & more.  Tickets are $18 in advance; $22 the day of tour. Tickets may be purchased at Saratoga Springs Visitor Center the month of June.
