How-To Garden Design Classes

I have been receiving fabulous feedback about the three-hour garden design and plants classes. Classes have been held in Massachusetts, New York, Vermont, and Virginia. The next scheduled programs will be at Holdridge Garden Center in Ledyard, CT on Saturday, June 3 from 9:00 – noon and in Erie, PA on August 12, hosted by the Penn State Extension Master Gardeners.

Participants will learn easy to implement steps for creating stunning, four season flower gardens. Topics include site assessment; plant selection for continuous color spring through fall; design principles and techniques for beautiful, sustainable beds; arranging plants based on mature heights; creating focal points; plus drafting a design to scale and building a plant list. The second half of the class focuses on superior, time-tested perennials, flowering shrubs and annuals as well as their care. The presentation includes colorful slides of plants and design techniques. All attendees will receive extensive handouts, great plant catalogs, the chance to win door prizes, and refreshments. A CEU form is available for Master Gardeners and green industry professionals.

Design classes are $49 per person. The Master Gardeners special rate is $44 (BUT payment must be by check for this discounted rate). For more information and to register, click on the events page and scroll to the class date.
